The Stupid Zone Episode 17

Penciled Thoughts
The Stupid Zone
Episode 17

Every part of my body came alive when I held Naomi in my hands as she cried. I had no idea why she was crying or if I was the one who made her cry but I was glad she was in my arms finding solace.
‘Women and their moods,’ I thought as I soothed her.
I was upset with Tami and I planned to give her a good piece of my mind when I got home. How the hell could she tell Naomi I was married to her, what gave her the right? Why did she even answer my phone in the first place and why didn’t she tell me there had been a call?
Also Naomi had put me in a tight spot asking me about Tamia and whether I had slept with her and yet she had a fiancé. I knew we were friends and I loved her as more than a friend but those questions were unwarranted. Anyway, I was determined to get to the bottom of why she was firing me with all those questions before we parted that night.
I quickly brought back my mind to the moment and I noticed Naomi’s crying had been reduced to muffled sobs. I wanted to cheer her up so I said the first thing that popped up in my head. I remembered how she used to cry on me when we were younger before the boyfriends came in and I would always make fun of how her nose usually ran after crying. It didn’t run this time but I knew that would make her laugh.
“My shirt is drenched with your mucus and tears,” I teasingly told her and she laughed. I could feel the vibrations of her laughter on my chest.
“That’s my girl. Now care to tell me why you were crying.” I asked her.
She was silent for a while before sniffing and then finally responding.
“I thought you would also wait.” She said.
I pulled her away from my embrace so I could look at her because I had no idea what she was talking about.
“Wait for?”
“To have sex.”
“What do you mean?” I asked her with a puzzled look.
“I have been waiting and …”
After she said that, I could not hear anything else she was saying or going to say.
“Wait, what?”
Was Naomi trying to tell me she had waited to have sex? Did that mean she was a virgin? If that was the case then, why would she tell me? Did it mean she waited because of me or maybe she wanted to sleep with me? All those questions and more I couldn’t answer kept running through my mind.
“You mean to tell me that you have never had sex?” I found myself asking her.
She laughed softly before nodding.
“Is it so hard to believe?”
“I don’t mean any offence but you dated so many people in high school and I assumed…..”
“That I slept with them all?” she asked.
I couldn’t answer question because I didn’t want to offend her.
There was an awkward silence between the two of us with neither if us speaking or looking at each other.
“Why did you wait?” I finally asked.
Naomi lifted her head and looked me straight in the eyes before saying something that changed the course of my life as I knew it.
“Because I was in love with someone else.” She said.
“Who?” I asked her and a tear dropped from her left eye.
“My superman, the one who never saw me.”
My heart skipped 10 beats and my ear drums got blocked as I scanned Naomi’s face to see if she was playing a prank on me. Was my first love confessing her love for me? Wait, if this was the case then it meant she was in love with me the time I was in love with her. I had so many things to say to her but I wanted to be sure first so I opted to ask her one more question before I opened the floodgates of my feelings for her.
“And now?” I asked almost as a whisper dreading the answer she would give. I silently prayed it was a positive one.
“I am still a virgin aren’t I?” she said with a smirk.
The sassy Naomi was back and she excited me. Without warning, I pounced on her and took her lips with mine. She was a little startled but she quickly caught on and kissed me back. It was like we were making up for all the lost time and so we went at it for a very long time occasionally coming up for air. We eventually broke off the kiss when Naomi’s phone rang. From the look on her face,
